When an engine names Sequence, it names it first, at an average position of 1.2 against fifteen tracked rivals. On the 90 questions buyers ask without its name, it averages 0.9 out of 100.
Scores are visibility: our tool's 0 to 100 measure of how often and how prominently an engine names a brand. It is not a share of answers.
| Stage | Questions | Names the client | Average visibility |
|---|---|---|---|
| Discovery | 78 | No | 1.0 |
| Shortlist | 12 | No | 0.5 |
| Comparison | 3 | Yes | 83.1 |
| Due diligence | 7 | Yes | 84.0 |
Of the 100 questions we track, 78 ask how to solve a billing problem and 12 ask which product to buy. None of those 90 carries Sequence's name, and across them it averages 0.9 out of 100.
The other ten do carry it. Three set Sequence against a rival and seven ask about Sequence itself. On those it averages 83.7, and it is usually the first brand the answer names.
“How do I solve this billing problem?”
“If you're comparing specific platforms (Chargebee, Zuora, Stripe Billing, Maxio/Chargify, Recurly, Billing Platform, etc.), the differentiation usually comes down to: how complex is your pricing model, how international are you, and how tightly do you need rev rec built in versus handled by NetSuite/Intacct separately.”
“Which platforms should I look at?”
“Leading options include Orb, Metronome (now part of Stripe), Hyperline, Lago, OneBill, Zuora, Zenskar, Chargebee, Maxio, and Recurly.”
“Sequence, or the other one?”
“If you're a B2B SaaS scaling past $10M ARR with complex enterprise contracts, Sequence is the safer bet for quote-to-cash automation.”
“Is Sequence right for us?”
“Sequence is an exceptionally strong fit for B2B SaaS companies managing complex, non-standard, or hybrid pricing models (like usage tiers, minimum commitments, and ramped contracts) that break traditional billing tools.”
Each column is one tracked question, and its height is Sequence's average score across the seven engines. A question that scores zero is drawn as a short stub so it can still be counted.

We wrote 129 questions and run 100 of them every day; the other 29 are held back. Ninety of the 100 leave Sequence's name out, because a shortlist forms before the buyer knows the vendor. The ten that name it are there to watch how Sequence is described once it is found.
Each question was scored out of 100 before it went in: 40 for how close the buyer is to spending, 35 for evidence that people really ask it, and 25 for whether it can be won in 90 days. Near-duplicates were dropped. Twenty are questions engines answer with sources rather than a list of vendors, such as pricing and architecture, and on those what counts is whether Sequence's own site is cited.
90 leave Sequence's name out, in grey. 10 carry it, in colour.
Each question carries the search terms behind it, with their search volume on Google and Bing and our tool's estimate of how often they come up in AI search.
From the first problem to due diligence on a vendor: 78 ask how to solve a billing problem, 12 which product to buy, 3 set Sequence against a rival and 7 ask about Sequence itself.
Each product area maps to the person who evaluates it: quoting to sales operations and the deal desk, billing architecture to engineering leads, receivables to the controller, revenue recognition to the CFO and compliance to legal.
Every question in our register carries the evidence for including it: live engine answers, the lists competitors publish, G2 reviews and Sequence's own customer references.

Across sixteen brands, Sequence is fourth on visibility and fourth on mentions, with 517 of the 6,403 brand mentions in the week. On position it leads. When an answer names Sequence, it comes up at an average position of 1.2, against 2.4 for Stripe and 3.0 for Chargebee.
When engines do describe Sequence, they describe it favourably. Daily sentiment stayed between 68.8 and 71.1 out of 100, and the least favourable single answer out of 4,337 scored 42. What is missing is how often it comes up.
“The key question is: is your billing complexity caused by the contracts you sell, or by the usage you measure?”
Across is visibility. Up is earlier in the answer: 1 means the brand is the first one named.

Asked what Sequence costs, Copilot answers that CPQ and revenue recognition are extras that push the entry plan toward $1,300 a month. Its sources for the extras, and for the missing free tier, are two third-party pricing sites, usagepricing.com and toolradar.com, rather than Sequence's own pricing page.
“Revenue recognition (ASC 606 / IFRS 15) is also an add-on, pushing a Growth plan with CPQ closer to $1,300/month.”
The three least favourable answers of the week, scored 42 to 45, all answer this question. All three cite Hyperline's comparison page against Sequence, and two also cite Monk's. Sequence's limits are being described from pages its competitors wrote.
“Sequence automates how invoices go out, but it does not run active outbound collections playbooks, handle intelligent inbound reply parsing for collections, or manage automated payment chasing like specialized AR tools do.”
Sequence scores between 9.5 and 11.6 on every engine we track. The field around it swings much harder. Stripe runs from 17.2 on Perplexity to 43.8 on Claude.
Claude is where the gap opens. It names Stripe, Chargebee, Zuora, Metronome, Recurly and Maxio more than any other engine does, and their scores there run two to five times what they get elsewhere. Sequence stays at 9.5. Claude knows it well when asked: on the questions that set Sequence against a rival, Claude scores it 90.3. It just does not bring it up unprompted.
Darker cells are higher scores. Engines are ordered by Sequence's score, highest first.

“Sequence is a billing, quoting, and revenue recognition platform aimed at finance teams at B2B SaaS companies.”
Stripe completed its purchase of Metronome on 14 January 2026, and Adyen completed its purchase of Orb on 1 July. Buyers compared both with Sequence, and both now belong to a payments company.
Most of the field is still independent of a payment processor. What changed is narrower: teams that chose Metronome or Orb have a reason to look again, and the questions they ask while they do are open. Two of them are already in the set, and Sequence scores 0 on both.
“Metronome (Stripe) and Orb (Adyen) are now part of larger ecosystems; this may accelerate integrations but could reduce independence and flexibility.”
Sequence’s average visibility on each, out of 100.
Engines cited a source 21,316 times in the week. Sequence's own site took 1,409 of those citations, more than any other single domain in the set, Stripe's 1,004 included. Rival sites took 4,043, and the other 15,864 went to third parties.
Sequence's pages get cited but tend to land mid-answer. The exception is a docs page: compliance certifications is cited 36 times at an average position of 2.4, earlier than any other Sequence page. The CPQ product page lands latest, at 6.3, which fits how rarely CPQ questions bring Sequence up at all.
Half of the ten most-cited third-party sites belong to other vendors, companies that sell billing or pricing software themselves. And the "best platforms" lists engines lean on in this category leave Sequence out.

“Sharing my honest review of Sequence”
Daily visibility slipped from a high of 11.7 to 8.9 across the six full days. On 22 September the daily run grew from 594 answers to 697, because 15 new questions joined the set, and those average 0.3. Adding mostly unanswered questions pulls the average down by itself.
Share of mentions moved with it, from 9.2 to 7.1 percent. Sentiment hardly moved at all. One week gives a baseline, and a direction takes a month of readings.
18 to 23 September, one scale per panel. The shaded days ran on the larger question set.
| Day | Visibility | Share of mentions | Sentiment | Answers collected |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 18 Sep | 11.57 | 8.50% | 70.86 | 594 |
| 19 Sep | 11.06 | 8.83% | 69.55 | 591 |

| 23 Sep | 8.89 | 7.12% | 68.75 | 695 |
Each of these opens once the site is connected to our tool, which is the first job of week one.
The work goes after the 90 questions without Sequence's name, because that is where buyers who have never heard of it are asking. Week one connects what this read could not see. Weeks two to eight publish against the questions with the widest gaps, and the last month works the third-party pages engines already trust.
Every target is measured the way this page was: the same 100 questions, the same seven engines, the same fifteen rivals. On day 90 the set runs again, and this page gets the result.
In the order it ships. Week twelve re-runs the whole set.
Each is a floor, measured the way this page was measured.

Each answer stands on its own, with the numbers and the dates it rests on, so it can be quoted without the charts. Every figure comes from the same read as the rest of the page.
In a week of tracking from 18 to 24 September 2026, Sequence ranked fourth of sixteen billing brands on visibility, at 10.4 out of 100, and first on position: when an answer names it, it comes up at an average position of 1.2. On the 90 questions that leave its name out, it averages 0.9.
Across the week, Stripe had the highest visibility of the sixteen brands we track, at 25.7 out of 100, followed by Chargebee at 16.4 and Zuora at 10.8. Sequence was fourth at 10.4, ahead of Maxio, Metronome, Lago and Recurly.
Sequence scores between 9.5 and 11.6 on all seven engines we track, and lowest on Claude, at 9.5. Claude is also where its rivals are named most: it gives Stripe 43.8 and Chargebee 33.8.
Microsoft Copilot answers that CPQ and revenue recognition are add-ons that push the entry plan toward $1,300 a month, citing two third-party pricing sites rather than Sequence's own pricing page. The pricing question averages 59.4 out of 100 for sentiment, second lowest of the ten questions that name Sequence.
We wrote 129 buyer questions and run 100 of them every day. Each was scored out of 100 for how close the buyer is to spending (40), evidence that people really ask it (35) and whether it can be won in 90 days (25). Ninety of the 100 leave Sequence's name out, because a shortlist forms before a buyer knows the vendor; the other ten show how Sequence is described once it is found.
With our tracking tool, which asked 100 buyer questions every day on ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode and Microsoft Copilot, against fifteen fixed rivals. It read 4,337 answers and traced 21,316 citations. Visibility is a 0 to 100 score for how often and how prominently an engine names a brand.
