Google says AI Overviews and AI Mode need no extra files or special markup. A page has to be indexed and eligible for a snippet. This sheet covers those two and Gemini, which has its own control.

From Google's pages, read
Indexed, with a snippet
A supporting link in AI Overviews or AI Mode must be indexed and eligible to be shown in Google Search with a snippet.
For you: Googlebot access and indexing come first. Search Console will tell you where you stand.
None required
Google says there are no additional requirements or special optimizations. Its guide adds that Search ignores llms.txt and that pages needn't be split into chunks.
For you: Skip the special files for Google and spend that time on your pages.
Query fan-out
AI Overviews and AI Mode may run several related searches across subtopics to build one answer.
For you: A page can earn a link on a sub-question nobody targeted, so specifics on your pages have more chances to count.
nosnippet, max-snippet, noindex
These, along with data-nosnippet, limit what appears in AI features. Robots.txt for Googlebot controls crawling.
For you: A leftover nosnippet tag can keep a page out of these answers without anyone noticing.
Google-Extended
Manages whether your content can train future Gemini models and ground their answers. Google says it doesn't affect inclusion in Google Search and isn't a ranking signal.
For you: Setting it changes nothing in Search. It decides what Gemini may use.
Search Console
Traffic from AI features is reported in the Performance report, within the Web search type.
For you: It's counted inside your Web total, so the report won't show the AI share alone. We read the answers directly.
Based on the pages linked in the sheet above, read .
All five engines run on one retainer, so this work is never sold alone. The plan you pick sets how many questions we track and how much ships each term.
We write the questions your buyers ask, with you: 100 or 150 depending on the plan, mostly unbranded. You approve them before anything runs.
We check Googlebot access, index coverage in Search Console and any snippet limits on your pages, plus your Google-Extended setting for Gemini. Fixes go into your plan's technical cycles.
Two weeks of answers across all five engines. For Google, we read AI Overviews, AI Mode and Gemini separately, recording who each one names, how it describes you, and which pages it links. On day 14 you get a written estimate of what the scope can move by day 90, as ranges per cluster and engine.
Comparison and alternatives pages, revamps of pages you already have with the specifics buyers ask about, corrected review profiles, placements on the pages Google links, and community work. Each month end is measured against the forecast.
Nobody controls what the engines say. You get a measured baseline, a written forecast and a monthly check that shows a flat month as flat.
We don't take your direct competitor, so we are never chasing the same citations for two of you.
We interview your product lead at the start, then for 30 minutes a month, and you approve every brief.
Each monthly check reads the same questions again and sets the result against the forecast. A flat month shows as flat. This is the shape of it, filled in for a made-up company.
AI Mode answers naming each, out of 100 questions. AI Overviews and Gemini get their own panels.
On track
Range set on day 14 for this cluster, in AI Mode: 10 to 17 answers. This month: 14.
Right: Category, deployment options, main use case.
Wrong: Gives a free trial length you changed in the spring.
The supporting link is an old help page with a live snippet. Revising that page is in next month's work.
Search Console counts these clicks inside Web, so no AI figure stands alone.
It is the work of getting your product named, and described correctly, when buyers ask Google's AI features about your category. It builds on normal SEO, since Google says a supporting link must be indexed and eligible for a snippet, and adds the pages those answers link to and what they say about you.
